Volunteer Malaysia Opportunites
‘Volunteers are not paid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless’
Volunteering in general not only provides long term support for a specific organisation but those who are pleased to volunteer to gain some valuable soft skills too. Growing up, I’m pretty sure we are taught to always give back to society whether through planting trees especially in schools or by joining trips to old folks home. But why should we?
Have you ever helped someone to pick up their scattered things in public? Or as simple as giving directions for a stranger? If yes, then doesn’t their gratitude smile make us happy?

Volunteering is more than that. If doing such little helps bring us happiness, volunteering absolutely gives us a sense of purpose, helps others to feel good, strengthens our rapport with the community and leads a way to develop new skills.
Thus, if you are wondering how to spend the next few weekends meaningfully, why not allocate your golden time by dropping over one of the organisations/charities below?
Pets
Second Chance Animal Society
Be ready to restrict yourself from squishing those cute, adorable fur babies! Their journey began when 12 motherless dogs came to rescue in a wet market and over the years, they have successfully rehomed about 50% of the pets.

These are the tasks that are specificated for volunteers :
- Paint Away (4 hrs/ 11.00am-3.00pm)
Add colours to the walls of the kennels with the paint code that will be provided upon your confirmation!
- What a Dirty Job ! (4 hrs/1.00am-3.00pm)
Sign up for this if you don’t mind getting drenched in a little sweat and dirt! It’s not as dirty as you think, where all you gotta do is to ensure cleanliness by cleaning the kennels, shelter compound and clearing the clogged drains.
- It’s a Dog’s Day! (2 hrs/11.00am-1.00pm or from 1.00am-3.00pm)
Don’t forget to bring an additional set of clothes as you will be splashed with water while scrubbing the dogs and applying tick-wash.
Besides, you can donate, sponsor as you wish and they are open for adoption as well. Do go through the FAQ’s beforehand if you have ever wished to go back home with a forever loyal companion – yes, forever!

These are some of the places to consider if you are keen on volunteering. Do bring along your family members along with you because ‘As one person we cannot change the world, but we can be the reason to change the world of a person’.
Often, even when our tummy slightly growls, we wouldn’t think twice, but to hit the pantry, straight away. But in reality, some people can’t even afford a meal or perhaps live a proper life. Education plays a tremendous role in shaping one’s life as it gives access to their basic rights. Thus, becoming a volunteer Malaysia is obviously a good deed that one is committing to.
