Imagine pressing your thumbs into the soft, fluffy buns and seeing those liquid gold oozing out just inviting you for a taste. The salty and umami taste just keeps you coming back for more. We managed to get a hold of Leeyana Amin, the owner of Two Souls and learn how this liquid gold is bringing the gold.
Meet Leeyana Amin, the Founder of Two Souls
“Hi, I’m Leeyana Amin the Founder of Two Souls.”
Leeyana Amin was flying high in the skies with Oman Air as a cabin crew. However, due to the pandemic, the airline announced its retrenchment exercise and had Leeyana finally landing on the ground for now. However, as the saying goes, every cloud has a silver lining. This event led to Leeyana exploring her interest and Two Souls was born.
What’s The Story Behind The Name
The name Two Souls represents both Leeyana and her sister who owns the business. “We’re a sibling-run business. My sister and I both love cooking and learning about food,” explained Leeyana. Both Leeyana and her sister have a passion for cooking and learning about food.
Going out food hunting is their shared pastime, however, the movement control order has put an end to that. “We decided to go into business together since the last Movement Control Order. We couldn’t go out to hunt food so by creating our product we can enjoy food at home!” And thus, Two Soul’s salted egg baos were born.
What Makes Your Salted Egg Baos Special
Predominantly known to the Chinese, salted egg bao or liu sha bao is part of the dim sum family. Leeyana chose to make salted egg bao in order to appeal to the Muslim community. “We created this to let all muslim enjoy the bao without any doubt as the ingredient that we are using are halal.” shared Leeyana. This means that everyone gets to enjoy their salted egg baos.
Leeyana also shared that Two Soul’s baos are slightly bigger compared to the ones in the market. When asked how best to enjoy their baos, Leeyana said “You just need to steam them for 3 minutes before serving!” Their baos are also great for those who frequently have cravings for salted egg baos as you can store them in a freezer for up to 3 months!
Leeyana’s Journey With Two Souls So Far
Before gaining the success that they have now, starting Two Souls was no easy feat. “We made this bao from scratch! It took us months to R & D to get the perfect recipe but it’s all worth it.” reflected Leeyana.
In the early days of their business, it was difficult to find customers. “Potential customers often do not want to be the first to try. They want to see that your business idea is proven and tested before they try it,” said Leeyana. However, their perseverance paid off as their baos are loved by many. This is proven by the number of sales that they make monthly, which reached up to a 5 figure amount!
Leeyana also shared that while she is grateful for the positive response from the public, she is also grateful for the support of her loved ones. “My loved ones are all very supportive!” she shared.
What’s In Store for Two Souls In The Future
“In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure and we must first believe that we can,” Leeyana said, sharing her life motto.
Two Souls isn’t slowing down anytime soon. “We’re planning to join a food festival soon!” Leeyana excitedly shares. You heard it here first so make sure you don’t miss out!
