1. Take the cable car and take a walk on Langkawi sky bridge
Take the exhilarating cable car ride which is also known as Langkawi SkyCab to see the best scenery in Langkawi. It is one of the most popular attractions on the island and you don’t want to miss this if you are in Langkawi. The cable car ride takes about 15 minutes and once you’ve reached the top, take a nice slow walk on Langkawi Sky Bridge. Enjoy the breathtaking views including the lush rainforests and the sea. A ticket costs RM43 (Malaysians) and RM85 (non-Malaysians) which also includes other attractions – the 3D Museum, SkyRex and SkyDome.
2. Go island hopping
If you enjoy the sun, the sand and the sea, then you’d want to enjoy the beautiful islands Langkawi has to offer. Island hopping is also one of the best things to do in Langkawi. From Cenang Beach, take a tour to the three popular islands – Pulau Dayang Bunting, Pulau Singa Besar and Pulau Beras Basah. It can save you some money if you can find some travel buddies to share a boat with you! Enjoy the clear blue waters, amazing sceneries and perhaps read your favourite book while you’re there!
3. Snorkeling/Diving
Langkawi has fabulous snorkeling and diving spots where you can discover exotic marine life. Just be sure to use proper attire and snorkeling/diving equipment. Can’t swim? Fret not, they provide life jackets for those who want to snorkel. Some of the best places in the island for snorkeling are Pulau Payar Marine Park, Datai Bay Beach, Tanjung Rhu Beach and Langkawi Coral. Keep a lookout for baby sharks and colourful fishes!
4. Parasailing
Have you seen people parasailing and you’ve always wanted to try it? Well, if you’re feeling a lil more adventurous and want to take a bird’s eye view of this beautiful island, go for a parasailing tour and you won’t regret it! The duration on air usually takes about 10 minutes and costs as low as RM120 per person. Parasailing tours are available at Cenang Beach, Kuah as well as Tanjung Rhu Beach.
5. Enjoy a sunset dinner cruise
Just because you’re travelling solo, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a sunset dinner cruise. Go on and enjoy your own company, it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself. Book a cruise across the Andaman sea and enjoy magnificent views of the island when the sun sets. There’s nothing better than watching a sunset over the ocean on a cruise while sipping on a glass of wine. We’d do anything to have that right now!
6. Relax at Yellow Beach Cafe
Hungry for some good steaks or pizza? Head over to Yellow Beach Cafe, a beautiful cafe by the beach that has a vibrant yellow theme colour. Located at Pantai Cenang, this cafe is a great place to chill, especially after a long day. They have hammocks and bean bags facing a beautiful view of the beach. Besides Western food, they offer beers, wine as well as cocktails. The best time to be here is during the sunset!
7. Catch the sunset at Tanjung Rhu Beach
Known as one of the most romantic spots in Langkawi, you don’t want to miss the sunset here. Though Langkawi has many beautiful spots for sunsets, Tanjung Rhu Beach has got one of the best sunsets. This beach is also great to take evening walks while enjoying the sunset. If you’d love to have a good plate of fish and chips, head over to Scarborough Fish and Chips which is located right at Tanjung Rhu Beach!
8. Duty-free shopping is a must
You can never leave Langkawi without a little duty-free shopping. Say whaaat! If you love shopping, you’d love to shop in Langkawi island as they are mostly sold at extremely low prices. From imported chocolates to perfume and alcohol, you’d want everything. However, be sure to check the restrictions and shopping guide on buying duty-free alcohol as well as tobacco. You are only allowed to bring home 1L of alcohol and one carton of cigarettes from Langkawi.
