Tried & Tested: Here’s My Honest Review On These 5 Eczema Products That Worked For Me

by Lavanyah Guna

Eczema Products – My Personal Review

Let’s continue talking about eczema, shall we? We talked about the best eczema creams, but not every eczema product works for everyone.

In this article, I’ll be sharing my honest review of some eczema products. I have been using them for at least a year and they do wonders!

Choosing a product can be baffling if your skin is sensitive. If you often spend  time thinking to purchase a new product with constant thought such as “Will this work me?”, “Is it going to make my flare worse?” and more flashing in your mind, consider these eczema products.

Our skin responds differently, whatever that worked for me might/might not work for you, but there is no harm in trying them, right?

What Ingredients Should You Avoid?

  • Fragrances – Nothing beats the feeling of smelling delightful after a quick bath. Fragrances are used to diminish the odour of some ingredients. However, they are common allergens that potentially trigger atopic dermatitis.
  • Retinoid – One way to describe retinoid (derivative of vitamin A) is ‘acne and anti-ageing. Although being the best ingredient to treat acne, it comes with a price. Retinoid can be too irritating, causing flares.
  • Ethanol – Despite the properties of lightweight and cooling, ethanol is known to dry out and burn the skin.

What Are Must-Have, Daily Use Products?

  • Lip Balm
  • Lotion/Moisturiser
  • Body wash

Eczema Products That I Have Tried To Soothe My Flares

Smooth Lips, Better Life

1. QV Lip Balm (Recommended by dermatologist)

If there’s a lip balm that I carry wherever I go is absolutely the one from QV. This lip balm softens and protects my dry lips and keeps them moisturised with its SPF 30.

QV Lip Balm is a glide-on applicator where I will reapply it every 2 hours for maximum benefits. Once I have applied, my dry/dead skin instantly peels off without any pain, leaving my lips smooth.

Besides, the long-lasting effect saves me from getting panicky if I forget to reapply as my lips would not dry.

2. Vaseline Original 100% Pure Repairing Jelly

A treasure that I discovered through social media and regretted not doing so earlier. I slather this vaseline at night before bed or when I’m at home. The number of days I wake up with dry lips has tremendously reduced ever since I got this.

Apart from using it on lips, I use them on rough spots like elbows after a flare.

I prefer using this at home for hygienic purposes as it comes in a tub where we need to scoop it.

Soft Skin Feel

1. QV Intensive Moisturising Cleanser (Recommended by dermatologist)

It is not the kind of love at first use. As much as I was excited to try this, it took me some time to get used to this cleanser.

Have you ever felt like you did not shower once you showered? Not nice, right? This cleanser gave me the exact feeling when I started using it.

This soap-free cleanser contains a higher moisturiser concentration. Therefore, it leaves a hydrating film on your skin. Soon, this cleanser became my forever go-to cleanser because, after every bath, it does not rip off my skin where I no longer scratch due to dryness.

1. Himalaya Cocoa Butter Intensive Body Lotion

Infused with Cocoa Butter and Wheat Germ Oil, this body lotion is formulated especially for dry skin. After a couple of months, my scars started to fade and, my skin was less flaky.

My skin has been as smooth as cotton with this bottle of delight. I still use this twice a day.

Get it from any Himalaya Outlet.

2. Rosken Skin Repair Dry Skin Cream

As the packaging itself says, ‘locks in moisture to provide instant relief from first application’, this cream says what it does.

Overall, the texture that is not sticky/oily makes it convenient to be applied before getting exposed to the sun. In addition, since it locks our skin in moisture, I love using it during flares as it soothes them.

Out of the array of products stuffed in my chest drawers, these are some of them that have shown improvements. I’m currently trying out different balms, lotions and ointments where I believe it is too soon to give a review about them.

Therefore, I’ll keep this review alive while discovering some gems. Good luck if you are looking to expand your collection.

*These products are only as a measure to prevent major flares as I still get them and various factors contribute to it.*
